Pulmonology focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of conditions affecting the lungs and respiratory system. The pulmonologists at Kernodle Clinic provide comprehensive care for both acute and chronic respiratory conditions, using advanced diagnostic testing and personalized treatment plans to help patients breathe easier and improve their quality of life.

Our pulmonary specialists treat a wide range of conditions, including asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), sleep-related breathing disorders, pulmonary fibrosis, and lung infections

We work closely with referring physicians and other specialists across Kernodle Clinic to provide coordinated care for complex respiratory conditions.

Pulmonary Diagnostic Testing

Pulmonary specialists may recommend testing to better understand lung function and identify respiratory conditions.

Common pulmonary tests include: 

  • Pulmonary Function Testing (PFTs) – evaluates how well the lungs move air in and out
  • Spirometry – measures lung capacity and airflow
  • Chest imaging, such as CT scans or X-rays
  • Oxygen saturation testing
  • Sleep studies when evaluating sleep apnea or other breathing disorders

These tests help guide personalized treatment recommendations.

Our physicians have privileges at Alamance Regional Medical Center and Duke University Health System and are supported by an experienced and compassionate team of nurse practitioners, nurses, technologists, and staff.

As a courtesy to our patients, we file insurance claims directly with all insurance plans, even those that do not include Kernodle Clinic physicians in their networks. However, your copayment, coinsurance, and deductible costs may be higher if Kernodle Clinic is not in your network.  Please bring your health insurance information with you.
